Background

Mr. Eric Weaver is a current Director at Pacific Community Ventures. Eric Weaver is founder and Executive Director of Lenders for Community Development (LCD), a community development financial institution in San Jose, California. LCD pools money from 22 member banks, along with government and philanthropic investors, to provide financing to small businesses, developers of affordable housing, and non-profits building needed community facilities. LCD also provides Individual ... Development Accounts and money management training to low-income families. Since 1995, LCD has made loans totaling over $67 million to benefit low-income communities, with a loan loss rate of less than 1%. LCD has provided over $5 million in financing to 225 micro-entrepreneurs, with an average loan size of about $20,000. LCD's Individual Development Account program, the Assets for All Alliance, is the largest asset-building program of its kind in the nation, and has been recognized as one of the most effective models nationally for helping low-income people save, accumulate assets and move out of poverty. LCD has also received two allocations of New Markets Tax Credits, totaling $50 million, and closed the first New Markets Tax Credit transaction in the San Francisco Bay Area. Eric was LCD's first employee, and today manages a staff of 18, with $45 million in loan capital. Prior to starting LCD, Eric worked in affordable housing development in Washington DC and as a relief worker in El Salvador. He has an MBA from Stanford University and an undergraduate degree from Harvard University. He was a founder, and is a past board chair of Net Impact, a nationwide network of MBA's committed to integrating their values into their business careers. Eric also sits on the board of Pacific Community Ventures, an organization which uses the principles of venture capital investing to provide financing and consulting services to businesses in low-income communities. Eric lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
