Background

Dr. Eric Hunter, PhD serves as Editor-in-Chief of AIDS Research and Human Retroviruses, a leading international publication on HIV and other retroviruses that cause significant human disease. Dr. Hunter is a world leading scientist in the study of retroviruses, including the AIDS virus. Dr. Hunter was recruited to Emory University with a multimillion dollar endowment in 2003 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he was Founding Director of the UAB ... Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and led its growth into one of the premier AIDS research institutions in the country. During his research career, he was directly responsible for over $70M in research grants to universities, including three NIH Merit grants. He serves as Member of the Scientific Advisory Board at GenPhar Inc. Because of his expertise in molecular virology and AIDS viruses, he serves on the Advisory Board for a number of biopharmaceutical companies such as GTI, which would later become a part of Novartis. He serves as Trustee of Georgia Research Alliance, Inc. he holds a GRA Eminent Scholar from Emory University. Dr. Hunter earned his BSc at Birmingham University, England and his PhD from the Cancer Research Fund & Brunel University in London, England.
