Background

Dr. Robert Stanley Dow is the Chief Executive Officer, Senior Partner, Portfolio Manager, Chairman of Compensation Committee, and Member of Asset Allocation Committee at Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC. He is also the Chairman of the Business Advisory Council and Lord Abbett Mutual Funds. Dr. Dow sets the firm's strategic direction. In 2007, he was appointed Daria Foster Managing Partner and took the newly created role of Senior Partner. He previously served as the firm's Managing ... Partner and Chief Investment Officer, responsible for overseeing the firm's equity, fixed-income, and international investment management teams, as well as leading the firm as a whole. In June 1996, Dr. Dow was appointed Managing Partner, in 1995 he was named Chief Investment Officer, and in 1986 he was made a Partner. He has served in a number of investment positions, including Portfolio Manager for several funds and Head of Fixed Income, where he was an integral part of developing and introducing bond funds. Dr. Dow began his investment career with the firm in 1972 as a Research Analyst. He actively serves on the Executive Committee of the Investment Company Institute and on the organization's full board of governors. Dr. Dow is a former Olympic athlete in the sport of fencing. He was also in the Ph.D. program in Economics at the New York University Graduate School of Business Administration from 1976 to 1978. Dr. Dow received an M.B.A. from Columbia University in 1974, an M.S.C.E. from New York University in 1972, and a B.S.C.E. from Newark College of Engineering in 1969.
