In December 2003, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws by Lancaster University. He holds a Ph.D. and K.B.E. Dr. Burgmans completed an M.A. at the University of Lancaster, the United Kingdom. He studied Business at Nyenrode in the Netherlands before going on to study Political and Social Sciences at the University of Stockholm in Sweden.
