Gen. Joseph W. Ralston, Ret. USAF serves as National Security Advisor of Compressus Inc. Gen. Ralston serves as an Executive Advisor of TCG Financial Partners. He served as a Senior U.S. Military Officer and Commander of a unified combatant command with an area of responsibility that includes 93 nations throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Gen. Ralston was promoted to Brigadier General in 1988, Major General in 1990, Lieutenant General in 1992 and General in ... 1995. He completed a distinguished 37-year Air Force career. He began his Air Force career in 1965 as a Fighter Pilot. He advanced through a series of assignments in the U.S., Asia and Europe. He retired from active duty on March 1, 2003. He was a Commander, U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe, NATO, Mons, Belgium from May 2000 to January 2003. As the Commander of the U.S. European Command. Gen. Ralston served as a Command Pilot with more than 2,500 flying hours, including 147 combat missions over Laos and North Vietnam. Since 1965, he served in operational command at squadron, wing, numbered air force and major command, as well as various staff and management positions at every level of the Air Force. He chaired the Joint Requirements Oversight Council, which validated the requirements for nearly every program of the Department of Defense. From March 1996 to February 2000, Gen. Ralston served as Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Washington, D.C., the second highest-ranking military officer in the armed forces from March 1996 to April 2000. He served as NATO Forces Commander and Commander of the U.S. European Command since May 2000 until his retirement from the military in March 2003. Gen. Ralston was commander of the U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. He has also commanded the Alaskan Command and the Alaskan NORAD Region. He has served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force for Plans and Operations, as Director of Tactical Programs in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, and as Director of Air Force Operational Requirements. Gen. Ralston has been the Vice Chairman of Cohen Group. since March 2003. He has been an Independent Director of Timken Co. since April 15, 2003. Gen. Ralston has been a Director of URS Corporation since October 14, 2003 and has been its Lead Independent Director since 2010. He has been a Director of Lockheed Martin Corp. since April 24, 2003. He served as Director of Alaska Railroad Corporation. He serves as a Member of Board of Advisors of Compressus Inc. Gen. Ralston serves as a Member of Advisory Council at Business Executives for National Security. He has completed program from National War College, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In addition, he also has completed programs at the Army Command and General Staff College. Gen. Ralston holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the Miami University (Ohio) and a Master of Arts degree in Personnel Management from the Central Michigan University.
