Mr. Gilmour served as Executive Vice President of administration and special financing operations at Ford Credit prior to being elected Ford Credit president in 1975. In 1986, following two years as vice president of external and personnel affairs and five years as vice president - controller, he served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ford Motor Company. He served as executive vice president - International Automotive Operations from October 1987 to May 1989, when he was given responsibility for various corporate staffs and later, for Diversified Operations activities. Mr. Gilmour served as Vice Chairman of Ford Motor Company from May 2002 to February 1, 2005 and also previously from 1993 until his retirement after 34 years with Ford Motor in 1995. He has been a Director of DTE Energy Co. since 1995 and serves as its Presiding Director. He has been a Director of Universal Technical Institute Inc. since June 2006. Mr. Gilmour serves as a Director of Ford Motor Credit Co. LLC. He serves on the Boards of Trustees of the University of Detroit and Henry Ford Health Systems. He serves as a Trustee of Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board of Questor Management Company. He serves as a Director or trustee of many community and professional organizations.
