Background

Ms. Beth A. Brooke serves as Chairman of Business Leadership Council of TechnoServe, Inc. Ms. Brooke serves as Vice Chairman of Strategic and Corporate Development of Ernst & Young, LLP. Ms. Brooke focuses on developing Ernst & Young’s strategic direction and shaping its position on public policy. As investors have experienced how vital the accounting profession is to global capital markets, Ms. Brooke has become known as a Strong Advocate for the profession’s public ... responsibility to the financial markets. Convening and participating in dialogues among many stakeholder groups, she has been an active player in restoring investor confidence and public trust in the capital markets. Through her outreach, Ms. Brooke has become one of the profession’s most prominent voices in the public policy arena. She has been recognized by Forbes as one of “The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” and by Accounting Today as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.” Within Ernst & Young, Ms. Brooke has been an Innovator and Force for Change. She spearheaded the creation of the Ernst & Young Corporate Social Responsibility group, including its Fellows Program, which enables Ernst & Young’s employees to spend three months working with aspiring local entrepreneurs in developing countries. She also has been a long-time advocate of women’s initiatives, diversity, inclusiveness and workplace flexibility; these initiatives contributed to Ernst & Young consistently being recognized by FORTUNE as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.” Ms. Brooke’s policy expertise has enabled her to make strong contributions to the government sector, as well. During the Clinton Administration, she worked in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she was responsible for all tax policy matters related to insurance and managed care. She played important roles in the healthcare reform and Superfund reform efforts. Prior to her current role at Ernst & Young, Ms. Brooke was National Director of Tax Advisory Services in Washington DC, and previous to that, was in Indianapolis office. She also serves on the Boards of TechnoServe, Inc., The White House Project, The Committee for Economic Development, The Atlantic Council of the United States, and the Partnership for Public Service. She serves as a Trustee of Aspen Institute, The. She also serves on the March of Dimes Public Policy Advisory Council, the Purdue Homeland Security Institute, the Advisory Council for the Open Compliance and Ethics Group, and the National Women’s Leadership Hall of Fame Advisory Council. She is the recipient of numerous local awards, most recently the University of Michigan’s 2006-07 Women in Leadership Award. A CPA and an FLMI, Ms. Brooke has a B.S. degree from Purdue University.
