Background

Mr. Regis P. McKenna serves as a General Partner of McKenna Management, LLC since November 1998. Mr. McKenna serves as also a Special Partner at New Vista Capital, L.L.C. Mr. McKenna is a Founding Member of SmartValley. Mr. McKenna founded Regis McKenna, Inc., over 35 years ago and also serves as its Chairman since 1970. He helped launch some of the most important technological innovations of the last 25 years including Intel Corporation, Apple Computer, Genentech, Inc., ... America Online, Electronic Arts, National Semiconductor, Silicon Graphics, 3Com and The Byte Shop. Mr. McKenna worked with a number of entrepreneurial start-ups during their formation years including: Compaq, Linear Technology, Lotus, Microsoft. In the last decade, he consulted on strategic marketing and business issues to firms in the United States, Japan, and Europe. Mr. McKenna continues to be involved in high tech start-up companies through his venture activities. Retired from active consulting since 2000, he is a seed-investor in high tech ventures, an author of five books on technology marketing and an active lecturer. Mr. McKenna is a Marketing Consultant and has been active in high technology business consulting and venture capital for the past 30 years. He has been a Director at Nanosys Inc. since April 2002 and is also a Member of numerous Boards of Directors including LignUp and Golden Gate Software. Mr. McKenna is the Chairman of the Board at Broadware Technologies and a Member of the Advisory Board at Opus Capital. He served as a Director of Cybergold Inc. since May 1996 and Caliper Life Sciences Inc. from September 1998 to February 2004. Mr. McKenna previously served as a Director at Cylink Corporation. He recently served on the International Advisory Board of Toyota Motor Company. Mr. McKenna is the Chairman of the Board at the Santa Clara University Center for Science Technology and Society. He is also a Trustee of Santa Clara University. Mr. McKenna also serves on the Boards of the Economic Strategies Institute, a Member of the Council on Competitiveness, and also serves on the Advisory Board of the University of California Berkeley Haas Graduate School of Business and Toyota International. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Stanford's Graduate School of Business. Mr. McKenna serves as the President of the Board of Trustees of the New Children's Shelter of Santa Clara County. He is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors for the Santa Clara University Center for Science, Technology & Society. In his latest book, Total Access, Mr. McKenna explains how marketing as we know it is disappearing and what is already replacing it. He has been honored by the San Jose Mercury News as one of the 100 people who made Silicon Valley what it is today. Mr. McKenna attended St. Vincent College and holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Duquesne University.
