Background

Doris Matsui serves as Director at Smithsonian Institution. Ms. Matsui, a Democrat from California, was first elected to the House in a 2005 special election. She also has served as President and Board Chair of KVIE, Sacramento’s public television station, and been a member of numerous civic and philanthropic organizations, including the Crocker Art Museum, the Sacramento Children’s Home, and the Junior League of Sacramento. She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Meridian International Center, the Woodrow Wilson Center, and the California Institute Board of Directors. She currently represents the Regents on Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture Council.
