Previously, he served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc. from 1998 to 2004, where Mr. Nolen turned a loss-making organization into a profitable contributor within 29 months, and transitioned it from a proprietary hardware company to software company using standard server platforms. He joined Siemens in 1982 as a Member of the Sales Force. Mr. Nolen rose through the ranks during his 26-year career with Siemens USA. Mr. Nolen also oversaw more than $17 billion in strategic acquisitions in the energy, healthcare and industrial sectors, positioning Siemens USA as a leading United States and global player in these key industries. Mr. Nolen served as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Service for Siemens Business Communication Systems, Inc., where he was responsible for sales and distributor channels, national accounts, consultant resources, Siemens customer support centers, telesales, and enhanced services within North America. From 1998 to 2002, he served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Siemens Enterprise Networks LLC. Mr. Nolen was responsible for successfully building the enterprise business into a cohesive, customer-focused solutions provider. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Siemens One. He serves as the Chairman of CoAdvantage, Inc. He has been Lead Director and Director of InVivo Therapeutics Holdings Corp. (a/k/a InVivo Therapeutics Corporation) since December 13, 2010 and December 12, 2010 respectively. Mr. Nolen serves as a Director of Telecommunications Industry Association and U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He is the Chairman of the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute. Since 2005, Mr. Nolen is the Rector of the Board of Visitors of Virginia Tech. He is a Member of The Business Roundtable and also serves on the organization's Security Task Force in Washington, DC. Mr. Nolen is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the New York Hall of Science. He is actively involved in supporting numerous charities as well as educational and children's organizations. Mr. Nolen is a leader in healthcare technology and information management, power generation and transmission, automation and controls, lighting, information and communications technology, transportation, and building technologies. He holds a B.S. in Marketing from Virginia Tech.
