Previously, Mr. James served as the Chairman of Global Investment Banking and Private Equity of Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation. He served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Investment Banking Unit at Credit Suisse (USA), Inc. Mr. James serves as a Member of the Advisory Board of Silvercrest Asset Management Group LLC. He has been a Director of Costco Wholesale Corporation since August 1988 and its Lead Independent Director since 2005. He serves as Director of Blackstone Group Management L.L.C. - General Partner The Blackstone Group LP. Mr. James is the Vice Chairman of The Kennedy Center Corporate Fund Board, a Trustee of The Second Stage Theatre, a Trustee of Woods Hole Oceanographic, a Trustee of Wildlife Conservation Society, a Board Member of The Council for the United States and Italy, and the Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of American Ballet Theatre. He serves as a Member of Advisory Council at TechnoServe, Inc. Mr. James is actively involved in various capacities at Harvard University and is the Chairman and Trustee of his reunion classes for each of Choate Rosemary Hall, Harvard College, and Harvard Business School.
