Background

Dr. Laurence C. Morse, Ph.D. is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Fairview Capital Partners, Inc. He co-founded the firm in 1994. He has participated in the investment of over $600 million in more than 50 traditional and specialized venture capital and private equity limited partnerships. He was a Principal at TSG Capital Group. In 1993, Dr. Morse was retained by Coopers and Lybrand International as the Senior Venture Capital Advisor on a six-person project team ... assembled to analyze previously established development-oriented venture capital projects throughout the world and to recommend an appropriate structure to the United States Agency for International Development for a proposed $100 million “Enterprise Development Fund” for the 11 country southern Africa region. In 1988, he joined Equico Capital Corporation as the Vice President and in 1992 participated in its privatization as a Founding Principal at TSG Ventures. Dr. Morse began his career in venture capital in 1983 at UNC Ventures. He serves on a number of Advisory Boards of venture capital partnerships including U.S. Venture Partners, Battery Ventures, Sierra Ventures, and Trinity Ventures. Dr. Morse also serves on the Advisory Boards of private equity funds sponsored by Syndicated Communications Venture Partners, Opportunity Capital Partners, MedVenture Associates, and the Ascend Venture Group. He has been a Director of Webster Financial Corp. since January 2004. He serves as a Director of Webster Bank. Dr. Morse is a Trustee of Institute of International Education. He is a Member of Board of Trustees of Princeton University and was a Member of Board of Princeton University Investment Company. He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Investment Companies. In January 2003, he was named one of “The Top Ten Minds in Small Business” by Fortune Small Business Magazine. Dr. Morse has been a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. Dr. Morse holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from Princeton University and a B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Howard University, having spent his junior year at The London School of Economics and Political Science as a Luard Scholar.
