He served as National Security Affairs Fellow of the Hoover Institution. He serves as a Board Member of the Council on U.S.-Korean Security Studies. He serves as a Trustee of Center for Strategic and International Studies. He writes a regular column for the Japan Times and Korea Times and is a frequent contributor to the International Herald Tribune and other regional newspapers and periodicals. He holds a BA in International Relations from Syracuse University, an MBA in Management from Pepperdine University, and an MS in Strategic Studies from the Defense Intelligence College.
