Mr. James L. Currie, Jim is a Co-Founder and Managing Director at Essex Woodlands Health Ventures. He co-founded Essex Woodlands Health Ventures in 1985. Mr. Currie has been involved in healthcare investing for more than 40 years of experience in healthcare investing as an investment banker, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist. As a venture capitalist, Mr. Currie has led the investment and development of numerous successful healthcare companies including Allscripts ... Healthcare Solutions, Critical Care of America, LyphMed, Inc., Ethical Holdings, Parexel International, Richwood/Shire Pharmaceuticals, and Serologicals. In 1977, he led the leveraged buyout and subsequently ran Central Scientific, Inc., which he successfully sold in 1984. During Mr. Currie’s tenure at Central Scientific, he played key roles in the financing of Critical Care of America and LyphoMed. In 1972, Mr. Currie co-founded Munger, Baker and Currie, Inc. He began his career in investment banking at Evans & Co. and Laird & Co. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Prism Pharmaceuticals and Dow Pharmaceuticals and also on the Board of Directors at Control Delivery Systems, PediaMed Pharmaceuticals, SleepMed, Serologicals Corporation, Digitrace Care Services, Inc., the Health Advanced Institute, and Cebert Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. Currie was a Director of Integrity Pharmaceuticals Corporation, InSound Medical, Xanodyne Pharmacal, and Psivida US, Inc. He holds a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University.
