Mr. Bates also served as State Farm’s Chief Investment Officer. In March 1991, ... Mr. Bates retired from State Farm. Prior to Mr. Bates’ employment with State Farm, he was a partner in the investment firm of Stein, Roe & Farnham in Chicago. Mr. Bates received a B.S. and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
