Dr. Larry R. Faulkner has been President of Houston Endowment Inc. since February 1, 2006. Dr. Faulkner serves as the President Emeritus of The University of Texas System. He served as President of The University of Texas System from April 1998 to January 2006. He served as Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs from 1994 to 1998, Professor of Chemistry from 1984 to 1998, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Head of the Department of Chemistry ... at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He served on the Chemistry Faculties of Harvard University and the University of Texas. He serves as Chair of the National Mathematics Advisory Panel by designation of the President and the Secretary of Education. Dr. Faulkner also serves as Chairman of Board of Trustees of The University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development (Internet2). He serves on the Boards of the Sandia Corporation, Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation, National Association of State Universities, Land Grant Colleges, and the National Center for Educational Accountability. He has been a Director of Houston Endowment Inc., January 2006. Dr. Faulkner has been on the Board of Temple-Inland's Guaranty Bank since 2002. He has been a Director of Temple-Inland Inc. since August 2005 and Exxon Mobil Corporation since January 2008. He serves as a Director of TIN Inc. He served as Director of Guaranty Financial Group Inc. from 2007 to August 2009. He serves as a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Faulkner received a BS degree from Southern Methodist University in 1966 and was awarded a PhD in Chemistry in 1969 from the University of Texas at Austin.
