Mr. Alan J. Patricof founded and serves as Managing Director of Greycroft Partners LLC. Mr. Patricof is the Founder, Managing Director and General Partner at Greycroft I and Greycroft II. He serves as Observer at Health Plan One, LLC. He also serves as a Mentor to TechStars, LLC. He was General Partner of Apax Partners L.P. Prior to co-founding Apax Partners, Inc. in 1969, he served as an Assistant to the Chairman at Northwest Industries, in charge of acquisitions and ... pension fund management. Mr. Patricof also served as an Assistant Vice President at Central National Corp. from 1960 to 1968 and subsequently served as a Vice President. While at Central National, he became the Founder and Chairman at the New York Magazine and also participated in the founding of Datascope Corporation. He has helped build and foster the growth of numerous major global companies and was instrumental in the start-up, financing, and subsequent strategic guidance that helped facilitate the growth of corporations such as America Online, Office Depot, Cadence Systems, Apple Computer, FORE Systems, and NTL Incorporated, He served at Lin Broadcasting Corp. Mr. Patricof serves as Chairman of Patricof & Co. Ventures, Inc., and a venture capital firm he founded in 1969. He founded Details Magazine and served as its Chairman. He serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of Village Ventures. Mr. Patricof serves as the Chairman of Medscape Inc. Mr. Patricof served as the Chairman at Apax Partners, Inc. In 2007, he was appointed to the Board of the Millennium Challenge Corporation by the President of the United States. He has participated in the Big Table meeting of Finance Ministers under the auspices of the Commission for Africa (CFA). Mr. Patricof was the Vice Chairman of the Commission on Financing Capital Flows to Africa, the Institute for International Economics, and the Council on Foreign Relations. He has also applied his knowledge and experience on a pro bono basis to address social inequities in the developing world, travelling extensively in Asia, Latin America, and Africa and writing extensively on venture capital and the challenges these regions face. He is recognized as the “Founding Father” of the venture capital industry. Mr. Patricof had several Op-Eds appear in the Financial Times and a thought piece on private-sector involvement in the developing world appeared in the April 2005 issue of the Milken Institute Journal. He holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a B.S. in Finance from Ohio State University. He earned an MS from Columbia Business School.
