Stephen Spinelli, Jr., Ph.D. serves as the President of Philadelphia University. Dr. Spinelli served as Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship and Global Management at Babson College since December 2005. Dr. Spinelli co-founded Jiffy Lube International, Inc. in 1979. He is a Founder of American Oil Change Corporation (DBA Jiffy Lube) and served as its Chairman. Dr. Spinelli is the creator of Babson’s M.B.A. course in franchising. Dr. Spinelli serves as Director of Ben Franklin ... Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania. He serves as a Director at The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. Dr. Spinelli has researched, written, and lectured extensively on various aspects of entrepreneurship. His work has appeared in journals such as Journal of Business Venturing and Frontiers of Entrepreneurship. Dr. Spinelli has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The Boston Globe, Entrepreneur, and Inc., among others. He has authored numerous business cases and is the coauthor of: New Venture Creation for the 21st Century; Franchising: Pathway to Wealth Creation; Business Plans for the 21st Century; and How to Raise Capital. He has published several academic studies and written a number of teaching cases on the subject. His newest book, Franchising: Pathway to Wealth Creation. Dr. Spinelli served as Independent Director of Acme United Corp. from April 2006 to June 9, 2008. He taught at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where he currently serves as Director of the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship and chair of the entrepreneurship division. He has been Member of the Babson College faculty since 1993. Dr. Spinelli graduated from McDaniel College (now Western Maryland College) in 1977 with a B.A. in economics. Dr. Spinelli earned his M.B.A. from Babson in 1991. He earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of London's Imperial College.
