Mr. R. Steven Hicks, Steve serves as the Chief Executive Officer at THP Capstar, Inc. and Capstar Acquisition Corp. Mr. Hicks bought his first radio station at age 29 and over the next 14 years acquired stations in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi and South Carolina. Mr. Hicks co-founded Hicks Communications, Inc., in 1979, acquiring stations in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. In 1993, he co-founded SFX Broadcasting, Inc. and served as its Chief Executive ... Officer from 1989 until 1996 and led SFX Broadcasting to a successful initial public offering in 1993. Mr. Hicks left SFX in mid-1996 to begin building the Capstar Broadcasting. In 1996, he founded Capstar Broadcasting Corporation and also served as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Hicks was the President and Chief Executive Officer of New Media division at AMFM Inc. since March 1999 until 2000. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of AMFM Operating Inc. since May 1998. He made radio history by inventing the local marketing agreement (LMA). Eventually, his new system of management helped persuade Congress to change ownership rules in the 1996 Telecommunications Act. Mr. Hicks also served as a Non-Managing Partner at Baystar Capital. Mr. Hicks is the Chairman of DMX, Inc. He founded Capstar Partners LLC and serves as its Executive Chairman. He serves as the Chairman of Muzak LLC, THP Capstar, Inc., Capstar Broadcasting Partners, Inc. and Muzak Holdings Finance Corp. He served as Non Executive Chairman of HealthTronics, Inc. from March 2, 2006 to July 2, 2010. He served as Chairman of Muzak Holdings, LLC. He has been Vice Chairman of The University of Texas System since February 9, 2011. He served as Vice Chairman of AMFM Inc. He serves as a Director of Everstream, Inc. A 28-year veteran of the radio broadcasting industry, including 20 as a station owner, Mr. Hicks was named Radio Executive of the Year and was one of the ten most powerful people in radio by Radio Ink magazine in 1997, and in 1996 was also honored as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and was recognized by the Texas Association of Broadcasters as Broadcaster of the Year. From 1982 to 1986, Mr. Hicks was on the Board of Texas Association of Broadcasters Young President Organization. He was the Chapter Chairman of the World President Organization Chief Executives Organization Austin Museum of Art in 1998. Mr. Hicks was the National Chairman of Laura Bush Endowment Bush 2000 and part of the Pioneer RNC Republican Regent 2000. He was appointed to The University of Texas System Board of Regents by Governor Rick Perry in February 2009. Mr. Hicks graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1972 with a B.A. in Government.
