Background

Mr. B. Jefferson Clark, Jeffrey, serves as a Managing General Partner at The Aurora Funds, Inc. He is also an Advisor of LaunchBox Digital. Mr. Clark co-founded the Aurora Funds in 1994 and is based at the firm's Durham office. He is responsible for life science investments in the three existing funds of the firm and leads the life science team to identify promising investment opportunities and to support investments already made in more than a dozen life science portfolio ... companies. Mr. Clark works closely with the firm’s life science portfolio companies to develop and execute on action plans, by accepting responsibility for many of the action items. He pulls from his strategic planning and operational experience to help companies to create or refine business plans, build solid management teams, develop strategic partnerships, and secure key customers. Through the establishment of the firm, Mr. Clark hoped to close the gap between local universities and the venture capital community to facilitate the growth of life science companies. He serves on the Boards of several of the firm’s life science portfolio companies, including Cardioxyl Pharmaceuticals,Inc., Altiris Therapeutics, Inc., Cropsolution, MERIX Biosciences, Inc., Norak Biosciences, Metabolon, Regado Biosciences, Aldagen, StemCo Biomedical, HyperBranch Medical Technology Inc., assisting in the strategic direction of each. He served as Director of Argos Therapeutics Inc., since 1998. He served on the Board of Insect Biotechnology, Inc., Centice, Valor Healthcare, Inc., United Emergency Services, Inc., VetCentric, Inc., Xsira Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Neotropix, Inc., and TriVirix International Inc. He was also employed at Harbert Management Corporation. Mr. Clark also co-founded the North Carolina Initiative for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NCIIE). He maintains strong ties to the RTP community and served on the Boards of the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, TROSA, and the Choral Society of Durham. Mr. Clark also served as the Chairman of the North Carolina's Council for Entrepreneurial Development. He is also Founding Chairman of NC EntrePAC and its associated entities. Mr. Clark spent 13 years working in development and external affairs for Duke University including Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, Duke Medical Center, and the School of Engineering. Mr. Clark served as a Member of Executive Committee of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development since July 2006 and served as its Director. Mr. Clark holds an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University.
