Mr. Richard L. Covington, Dick, is the Executive Vice President of Strategy and Operations and Managing Director at NGP Energy Capital Management. Mr. Covington joined the firm in 1997 and since 2001 has served as its Managing Director. At the firm, Mr. Covington oversees the structuring, negotiation and execution of the NGP investment process and assists in the monitoring of portfolio companies and the sourcing and evaluation of new investment opportunities. Mr. Covington served as the primary outside Legal Counsel for NGP’s investments from 1989 through 1997. He serves as the Lead Independent Director of Resolute Energy Corporation and has been its Director since September 2009. Mr. Covington is a leading transaction specialist in the energy industry with over 20 years of experience. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Senior Shareholder at Thompson & Knight where he practiced in the Corporate and Securities group in Dallas for nine years. At Southern Methodist University, Mr. Covington was an Editor of the Southwestern Law Journal and was elected to the Phi Delta Phi scholastic honorary society. He completed a J.D. in 1983 and a B.B.A. magna cum laude, in 1980, from Southern Methodist University.
