He also served as Deputy Director of the Leonard and Madlyn Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute of the University of Pennsylvania. His duties include acting as the Director's Chief Advisor on major decisions related to the Cancer Research Institute's activities, plans, and actions. His lab has made important contributions to the understanding of basic immunology, Oncogene function, cell cycle control, and apoptosis. He serves as Director of AMDeC, LLC. He serves as Director, American Association for Cancer Research. He is Fellow, American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a Member of the National Academy of Sciences of American Academy of Sciences and its Institute of Medicine. He is a Board-Certified Medical Oncologists.
