Dr. Arie S. Belldegrun, M.D., FACS, is the Founder of Kite Pharma, Inc and serves as its Executive Chairman. Dr. Belldegrun was Partner and served as Chairman and Member of Advisory Board of Two River Group Holdings LLC. Dr. Belldegrun serves as the Chief of Division of Urological Oncology. He serves as a Urological Advisor of Ushifu, Inc. From 1985 to 1988, Dr. Belldegrun served for three years at National Cancer Institute and NIH as a Surgical Oncology research fellow. Dr. Belldegrun is an internationally recognized expert in the surgical and medical management of urological cancers, designing and conducting large-scale clinical trials, and in the development of innovative therapies for patients with localized and metastatic kidney, bladder, and prostate cancer. His major interests are in drug development and in surgical and medical devices and instrumentation. Dr. Belldegrun’s research laboratory at UCLA is a pioneer in the fields of genetic cancer therapy, immunotherapy, cancer vaccines, and targeted molecular therapy for urological malignancies. Dr. Belldegrun has been the Chairman of Arno Therapeutics, Inc. since March 2008. Dr. Belldegrun is also the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Boards of Oncura, Inc. and Roei Medical Corp. and serves on the Medical and Scientific Advisory Boards of several other biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Belldegrun has been the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of Cougar Biotechnology, Inc. since December 2003. He served as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board for RENCAREX at Wilex AG. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Cougar Biotechnology, Inc. from December 2003 to July 2009. Dr. Belldegrun serves as a Director of Email Real Estate.com Inc. He is a Professor of Urology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine since 1994. Dr. Belldegrun serves on the editorial boards and is a reviewer for many medical journals, scientific journals, and granting organizations including the Journal of Urology and the American Foundation of Urologic Diseases. He has authored three textbooks in prostate and kidney cancers and is the author and co-author of over 500 scientific publications (including peer-reviewed papers, internet publications, reviews, book chapters, and journal issues) and over 280 abstracts - all with an emphasis on various aspects of urologic oncology. Dr. Belldegrun has given over 250 scientific lectures worldwide. Dr. Belldegrun is a reviewer for many medical journals and granting organizations. He is the author of several books on prostate and kidney cancers, holds several biopharmaceutical patents, and has written over 400 scientific publications with an emphasis on Urologic Oncology. Dr. Belldegrun is certified by the American Board of Urology, is a Member of the American Society of Genitourinary Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Belldegrun holds a B.S. and an M.D. from Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem. He completed his post doctorate at the Weizmann Institute of Science and his residency at Harvard Program in Urology at Harvard Medical School.
