The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Announces Executive Changes

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce has named Roshann Parris as its new chair. The Parris Communications CEO will have the task of creating a new Big 5 goal. She takes over for Polsinelli PC Chairman Russ Welsh, who helped the Chamber achieve its goal of becoming a major animal health symposium. He will continue to serve under the title of "immediate past chair". Parris' post becomes official Nov. 1. She's the fourth female chair in the chamber's 126-year history. With her comes a slate of new officers, including: Chair Elect: Terry Dunn, JE Dunn Construction; Vice Chair: Ralph Reid, Sprint Corp.; Treasurer: Terry Bassham, KCP&L; Their terms last through Oct. 31, 2014. Newly elected members include: Peter deSilva, UMB Bank; Ed Desoignie, Heavy Constructors Association; Steve Doyal, Hallmark; Frank Ellis, Swope Community Enterprises; Kara Hendon, FleishmanHillard; Cliff Illig, TIFEC LLC; Chris Migneron, HNTB; Todd Pleimann, RubinBrown; Brad Smith, BMO Harris Bank; Brad Sprong, KPMG.

Greater Kansas City Chamber Of Commerce has a new slate of officers, led by chairman Russ Welsh, CEO of the Polsinelli Shughart law firm. Welsh succeeds Frank Ellis, CEO of Swope Community Enterprises, who has led the chamber's Big 5 initiatives since last year. The chamber's chairman elect is Roshann Parris of Parris Communications. Other top officers are Terry Dunn of JE Dunn Construction, vice chairman; Ralph Reid of Sprint Nextel, treasurer; and Ellis, immediate past chair. New board members for the coming year are: John Bluford of Truman Medical Centers; Warren Erdman of Kansas City Southern; Greg Graves of Burns & McDonnell; Mel Lagarde of HCA Midwest Health System; Bill Lucas of Crown Center Redevelopment; Tom Metzger of Bank Midwest, and Maurice Watson of Husch Blackwell. Other members and the organizations they represent on the board include: Brett Gordon, Downtown Council; Don Hall Jr., Civic Council of Greater Kansas City; Robert Cowan, Greater Kansas City Federal Executive Board; Steve Doyal, Kansas City Area Development Council; John McDonald, Mr. K small business award winner; Jane Chu, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts; Mark James, Metropolitan Community Colleges; Clyde McQueen, Full Employment Council; Leo Morton, University of Missouri-Kansas City; Brent Stewart, United Way of Greater Kansas City, and Bridgette Williams, Heavy Constructors Association. These six elected officials will serve as non-voting board members: Mayor Michael Copeland, Olathe; Chairman Ed Eilert, Johnson County Commission; Mayor Sly James, Kansas City; Mayor Joe Reardon, Unified Government of Wyandotte County; Mayor Don Reimal, Independence, and Mayor Ron Shaffer, Prairie Village.
