Zarubezhneft, PetroVietnam Sign Cooperation Agreement on Rusvietpetro
Nov 12 13
Zarubezhneft has signed a memorandum with PetroVietnam covering expanded cooperation within their joint venture, Rusvietpetro. Rusvietpetro is developing 13 fields in Central Khorei Ver section of Russia's Nenets autonomous district, but has encountered difficulties stemming from the geology of the formations. The fields feature very complex collectors and high water cut. As a result, the production plateau for the project has been reduced to 3 million tonnes from 5 million tonnes previously. Under the document signed, the two sides will seek out and implement the optimal strategy for developing the fields on a mutually beneficial basis. The strategy, aimed chiefly at improving the economics of the project, will include methods for boosting yields, application of new technologies, and opportunities for optimizing the scheme for working up the Central Khorei Ver fields. It will also include measures for utilizing associated petroleum gas, minimizing the environmental impact and cooperating in the social sphere.
