MTN, Bharti, Orange, Vodacom And Mobinil May Sell Mobile Tower Networks In Africa

MTN Group Limited (JSE:MTN), Bharti Airtel Limited (BSE:532454), Orange (ENXTPA:ORA), Vodacom Group Limited (JSE:VOD) and Mobinil Telecommunications S.A.E. are working on selling mobile tower networks in Africa. MTN Group is on the verge of selling towers valued at $1 billion in Nigeria, and Bharti Airtel Africa is selling about 15,000 of its towers across 17 countries for $2 billion- $2.5 billion. Orange is looking at disposing of towers in sub-Saharan Africa and Egypt. According to TMT Finance, a shortlist of three bidders has reportedly been drawn up for MobiNil’s 2,500-3,000 Egyptian towers.
Mobinil Denies Reported Sale By Orange

Mobinil Telecommunications S.A.E. has denied media reports that Orange (ENXTRA:ORA) plans to divest its stake in Mobinil. Mobinil Chief Executive Officer, Yves Gouthier said Orange was not considering selling its stake in Mobinil due to Egyptian operator's losses in the past two years, and the French company will continue to invest in the local market. Gouthier explained that the owner sees the Egyptian market as promising and with strong growth opportunities.
Mobinil Reports Earnings Results for the First Nine Months of 2013

Mobinil reported earnings results for the first nine months of 2013. For the period, the company reported net losses of EGP 447.2 million against EGP 94 million a year ago. The company increased its revenues to EGP 7.8 billion compared to EGP 7.7 billion for the same period in 2012 an increase of 1.8%.
