Daimler AG to Axe 500 Jobs over the Next Seven Years

Daimler AG will cut around 500 jobs at its engine plant in Mannheim, south-western Germany, over the next seven years. There will be no lay-offs, the company said, adding the measures are aimed at improving the company's competitiveness. In return, Daimler will invest EUR 500 million (USD 624.5 million) in the plant, which currently has more than 5,000 employees, by the end of 2016.

Daimler AG Collaborates with BMW AG to Establish Network of Mexican Suppliers for New Factories in Mexico

Daimler AG announced its collaboration with BMW AG to build a network of suppliers for new factories in Mexico. This step is part of a broader push by Mercedes to deepen its network of local suppliers at plants in China, South Africa, the United States and Mexico. Both companies revealed plans to invest USD 1 billion to construct a facility in Mexico earlier this year. Both firms work together where they have common interests, such as establishing technical competencies among their suppliers in specific factories.

Mercedes-Benz to Develop Extra-Long Version of its S-Class Pullman

Mercedes-Benz, a subsidiary of Daimler AG announced that it is developing an extra, extra-long version of its S-Class sedan, named S-Class Pullman, that is likely to revive the Pullman name. The model is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 engine that delivers 523bhp and 612 pound-feet of torque. It is to be launched at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show next September.
