China's National Development and Reform Commission Investigates Audi, Chrysler, Benz in Guangdong on Monopoly

China's National Development and Reform Commission has been investigating monopolies by a number of automakers including Audi, Chrysler, Benz and a Japanese car company in Guangdong. The NDRC, the Ministry of Commerce and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce brief that Audi Hubei business and ten 4s stores, Chrysler Shanghai business and three 4s store, a Japanese carmaker in Guangdong and Benz have been fined. However, the NDRC and Guangdong branch have surveyed part, complete car and after-sale services of three Guangdong Japanese car companies started April this year, which were Guangqi Toyota, Guangqi Honda and Dongfeng Nissan. The three companies issued statements supporting anti-monopoly investigations in August but have not been disclosed whether they were investigated.

Daimler Announces Sales Results for the Month August 2014

Daimler announced sales results for the month August 2014. For the month, the company sold 118,887 Benz passenger cars, up 9.7% year on year. The Benz sales fell 6.2% year on year in Germany. In the meantime, the US sales were up 9.4% to 27,078 and the China sales were up 18.3% to 21,398 in August.

Daimler AG Announces Tuscaloosa Plant Expansion

Daimler has announced it will expand capacity at its plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (United States). The increase of 65,000 units per annum (upa) will accommodate the upcoming sport utility vehicle (SUV) coupe, a BMW X6-fighter previewed by a concept first shown at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, and the C-Class, which began production in June 2014, bringing the plant's capacity to 300,000 upa.
