GDF SUEZ Announces Start-Up Production from Orca Gas Field Development

GDF SUEZ announced the start-up of production from its Orca gas field which straddles the UK and Dutch sectors of the North Sea and which is only the second such cross-border gas development between these two countries. Initial gas has been produced from the first of the three wells to be drilled from the D18a-A production platform located in Dutch waters, 500 metres from the UK sector and in approximately 45 metres water depth. The second well is expected to come on-stream later this month. Drilling is underway on the third well from which production is expected in February 2014. At plateau in 2014, the platform will produce approximately 1.5 million m3 of gas per day. The Orca gas field lies in blocks 44/24a, 44/29b and 44/30a of the UK Southern North Sea (SNS) and extends into blocks D18a and D15b of the Dutch Continental Shelf.
GDF SUEZ Announces First Power Project for Group in Kuwait

GDF SUEZ announced, together with its consortium partners, that financial close has been achieved for the Az Zour North Independent Water & Power Project (IWPP) in Kuwait, the country's first Private Public Partnership project. The consortium, which owns 40% of the project and comprises GDF SUEZ (17.5%), Sumitomo (17.5%) and A.H. Al Sagar & Brothers (5%), was selected as successful bidder by Kuwaits Partnerships Technical Bureau (PTB) in January 2013. The remaining 60% is owned by Kuwaiti Government entities. The consortium will construct a gas-fired combined cycle power plant of 1,500 MW and an associated water desalination plant with a capacity of 107 MIGD (486,000 m-/day). All of the plants output will be purchased by the Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water under a 40-year long-term Energy Conversion and Water Purchase Agreement (ECWPA). The plant is expected to start commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2016. The total project cost of USD 1.8 billion will be funded by a mix of project finance debt and equity in an approximate 80:20 ratio.
GDF SUEZ Enters Offshore Deep Water Exploration Block 3F in Malaysia

GDF SUEZ has jointly entered the offshore deep water exploration Block 3F in Malaysia in partnership with PETRONAS Carigali (40%), operator of the block, and JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration (Offshore Malaysia) (40%). GDF SUEZ holds 20% participating interest in the license. The license has been awarded by Malaysian Authorities to the consortium. This new award reinforces the GDF SUEZ's position in exploration-production and further consolidates its position in South-East Asia following the acquisition of a 20% working interest in Block 2F in Malaysia, in September 2013. The license covers an area of approximately 4,200 kms in water depths ranging from 100 to 1,200 m, offshoreSarawak province, next to the block 2F. The deep water exploration campaign will last three years and willinclude the drilling of an exploration well. In case of gas discovery, gas will be marketed either throughexisting Bintulu LNG plant or through a FLNG.
