Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Inc. Announces Executive Changes

Greg Siekaniec, Chief Executive Officer of Ducks Unlimited Canada, has been elected to the independent Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. (SFI) board of directors. Mr. Siekaniec's election fills an open position with the SFI board's environmental chamber. Before joining DUC, Siekaniec served 28 years with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), last serving as the Deputy Director for Policy and Management. The company also announced the election of its new officers: SFI Chairman Larry Selzer, President and CEO of The Conservation Fund; SFI Vice Chairman Craig Blair, President and CEO of Resource Management Service LLC (RMS); and SFI Secretary-Treasurer Richard Brinker, Dean Emeritus, School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, Auburn University. Robert Luoto remains on the board as Immediate Past Chair; he represents independent professional loggers and the American Loggers Council. Selzer, Blair and Brinker represent the environmental, economic and social chambers of the SFI board, respectively.

Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Inc. Appoints Andrew de Vries as Vice President, Conservation, Indigenous and Government Relations

Andrew de Vries has joined the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. as Vice President, Conservation, Indigenous and Government Relations. He will oversee the SFI(R) conservation program in Canada and engage Native Americans, First Nations and Metis groups both in the development and use of the SFI standard. Andrew will also work with governments in Canada and Europe to ensure inclusive forest certification related policies.

Gregor Macintosh Joins Sustainable Forestry Initiative as the Senior Director of Standards

Gregor Macintosh joins the Sustainable Forestry Initiative(R) (SFI(R)) as the Senior Director of Standards -- a position that supports the SFI Standard as it relates to the standard setting review process, implementation, revisions, complaints and interpretations. Based in British Columbia, Macintosh joins SFI after nearly 13 years in the field of certification auditing focusing on environmental and sustainable forest management performance, chain of custody auditing and forest carbon accounting. Previously working as a forest certification auditor with KPMG PRI, he has extensive experience with all the North American forest certification standards including SFI, CSA, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). Macintosh has professional experience in Canada, the United States, and China. Macintosh will oversee pilot projects and task forces, and serves as staff liaison for the External Review Panel and the SFI Resources Committee. He also serves as the SFI Inc. liaison with certification bodies and auditor accreditation programs.
