Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Energy announced unaudited earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of $44,927,000 against $63,185,000 a year ago. Income was $1,548,000 against $7,922,000 a year ago. Capital expenditures were $2,095,000 against $1,556,000 a year ago. Revenues decreased $18.3 million as compared to second quarter of 2013, primarily attributable to the completion and delivery of two large steam generators that were ongoing in the prior year period. Operating income was lower than in the prior year quarter, primarily attributable to lower revenue.
For the six months, the company reported revenues of $92,707,000 against $126,701,000 a year ago. Income was $2,071,000 against $10,180,000 a year ago. Capital expenditures were $8,237,000 against $2,978,000 a year ago.
Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Energy, Inc. Wins Steam Generator Services Contract for Dominion Fleet from Dominion Generation

The Babcock & Wilcox Company announced that its subsidiary, Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Energy Inc. (B&W NE), was awarded a multi-year fleet services contract from Dominion Generation to provide comprehensive steam generator inspection, repair and cleaning services for the company's three operating nuclear stations -- North Anna in Mineral, Va; Surry in Surry, Va; and Millstone in Waterford, Conn. Utilizing proven, robotic tooling and inspection technology, B&W NE will provide eddy current testing, visual inspections and water lancing for steam generators in a total of six units, two at each of the power plants. B&W NE's recognized technology provides the industry with a cost-effective solution with low dose rates and short outage schedules.
Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Energy, Inc. Wins Contract from American Electric Power to Provide Steam Generator Services for Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant

The Babcock & Wilcox Company announced that its subsidiary, Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Energy Inc., was awarded a contract from American Electric Power to provide steam generator services for the Donald C. Cook (D.C. Cook) Nuclear Plant just north of Bridgman, Mich. The D.C. Cook Plant contains two units, one of which is outfitted with Babcock & Wilcox replacement recirculating steam generators. As part of this contract, the company will execute a comprehensive inspection and cleaning campaign, which includes eddy current testing, visual inspections and water lancing. The inspections and cleaning activities are conducted periodically to monitor and maintain the condition of the steam generators. The D.C. Cook units are built to a more compact design known as an ice condenser plant, for which its proprietary tooling and technology are ideally suited to efficiently perform the steam generator inspection and cleaning operations in restricted spaces. The multi-year contract began in February.
