Bromium and ForeScout Team to Automate Threat Response
Dec 10 13
Bromium, Inc. and ForeScout Technologies, Inc. announced integration efforts between Bromium Live Attack Visualization and Analysis (LAVA(TM)) and ForeScout CounterACT. The joint solution will help automatically defeat and remediate advanced malware, gather precise threat intelligence in real time, and protect the enterprise using advanced network-wide defenses. Providing an unrivaled comprehensive and accurate view of malware behavior in real-time, LAVA is a centralized security application that works in conjunction with Bromium vSentry(R). Bromium vSentry is built on the revolutionary Bromium Microvisor that protects end points by design, using CPU features for virtualization to hardware-isolate each browser tab, attachment or document in a micro-VM(TM) that cannot access enterprise data, the Intranet or valuable SaaS sites. Malware is automatically remediated when the user closes the task. LAVA gathers and provides real-time analysis of each hardware-isolated malware attack cycle occurring within an enterprise, providing detailed insight into an attack's origin, techniques and targets while delivering immediate, actionable security intelligence and enabling enterprise security teams to safely analyze threats. Based on CounterACT's real-time visibility and policy-based mitigation capabilities, CounterACT can dynamically provision and activate the Bromium endpoint agent, vSentry(R). CounterACT can also receive malware details from Bromium LAVA(TM), Bromium's management system, in real time and allow organizations to enable CounterACT to quarantine unprotected, infected endpoints, block the infection source and inspect all other endpoints on the network for presence of a similar infection.
ForeScout Technologies, Inc. Helps Ardentec to Gain Real-Time Network Visibility and Protection from Unauthorized and Unsecured Devices
Nov 20 13
ForeScout Technologies, Inc. announced that Ardentec chose ForeScout CounterACTT to gain endpoint visibility and compliance via agentless monitoring and policy enforcement of nearly 4,000 endpoints used by more than 1,000 employees across its four manufacturing sites. Ardentec chose ForeScout because it provided the simplest and cost-effective solution; it was also the quickest and simplest to deploy and maintain. Its agentless approach, allowing for strong policy control, was also a priority. ForeScout distinguished itself further by preventing rogue and unmanaged devices from connecting to the network, especially since Ardentec discovered that its users unplug network cables from the factory machines and plug them, instead, into their own devices. CounterACT also offers the interoperability needed to query the company's authorized device database. Leveraging the ForeScout ControlFabric interface, CounterACT checks the IP and MAC addresses of devices attempting to connect to the network to make sure they match. Other factors in the choice of CounterACT included its use for identifying and controlling mobile devices, automating the process for controlling guest access to the network, the range of endpoint compliance capabilities and dashboard, and its query and audit reporting capabilities. With the introduction of this BYOD security service, Ardentec has seen an increase in the network security compliance rate of ISO 27001 to 80% and an overall lowered network asset management risk across the company. Ardentec found additional distinctive uses for CounterACT such as dynamic asset classification, an IP-MAC binding and MAC address validation, used for factory devices and connections as well as wireless and mobile device security. CounterACT monitors all devices connecting to Ardentec's network to ensure each endpoint has the correct settings, such as up to date anti-virus and that the operating system patches are current, per the organization's standard security policies.
