U.S. Army Contracts with 17 Wind Power Technology Companies

A U.S. group of wind technology contractors have separately been contracted by the U.S. Army for locally generated, renewable and alternative energy. Under a Multiple Award Task Order Contracts (MATOC) from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Ala.,the companies are eligible to compete for task orders to provide renewable energy to Department of Defense facilities. The companies are: Acciona Energy North America Corporation; Cobra Industrial Services Inc.; Dominion Energy Inc.; Duke Energy; EDF Renewable Energy; Emerald Infrastructure; Enel Green Power North America; EverPower Wind Holdings Inc.; First Wind; Iberdrola Renewables LLC; LTC Federal LLC; NorthlandPower, Inc.; Siemens Government Technologies Inc.; Stronghold Engineering Inc.; Turn Key Power Consortium LLC; VERT Investment Group; and West Texas Power Company. The MATOC leverages Department of Defense authority to contract up to 30 years under Title 10 USC 2922a. The Army is issuing MATOCs in four energy areas: geothermal, solar, wind, and biomass.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Awards Task Order Contracts to Acciona Energy North America Corporation; Apex Wind Energy Holdings, LLC; Borrego Solar Systems, Inc.; Cobra Industrial Services, Inc.; Dominion Energy, Inc.; Element Power US, LLC; Emerald Infrastructure; Enel Green Power North America, Inc.; Energy Matters, LLC; Gehrlicher Solar America Corporation

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, awarded Multiple Award Task Order Contracts (MATOC) to a group of 22 qualified solar technology contractors. Solar is the second of four technologies being awarded under the $7 billion Renewable and Alternative Energy Power Production for DoD Installations MATOC. The first, geothermal, was awarded May 3, 2013. The remaining technologies will be awarded on a staggered schedule by the end of the calendar year. The contractors that are qualified through this process will be able to compete for future projects within their approved technology area for any renewable energy task order issued under the MATOC by the Army or Department of Defense (DoD). The MATOC leverages the DoD authority to contract up to 30 years under Title 10 USC 2922a. This MATOC will be used to procure reliable, locally generated, renewable and alternative energy for DoD installations through power purchase agreements (PPA). The $7 billion capacity will be expended for PPAs to procure energy during a period of up to 30 years from renewable energy generation systems that are designed, financed, constructed, operated and maintained by contractors using private sector financing. The companies awarded contracts are: Acciona Energy North America Corporation; Apex Wind Energy Holdings, LLC; Borrego Solar Systems, Inc.; Cobra Industrial Services, Inc.: Dominion Energy, Inc.; Element Power US, LLC; Emerald Infrastructure; Enel Green Power North America, Inc.; Energy Matters, LLC; and Gehrlicher Solar America Corporation.
