Celcom Axiata Bhd announced several key appointments, including that of Zuraida Jamaluddin as its new chief corporate officer. Zuraida will oversee the corporate initiatives in Celcom, besides strengthening and unifying the capabilities of the organisation as a whole. She was previously the director of sales for Mesiniaga Bhd and went on to Renoir Consulting (Malaysia) as its managing director prior to joining Celcom. Meanwhile, Suresh Sidhu has been promoted as the CEO-designate of edotco, effective July 1. He was formerly chief corporate and operations officer of Celcom. With the move, Suresh will be assuming a bigger role at Celcom's sister company. Another two key appointments are Afizulazha Abdullah as the new chief business services and solutions officer and Datuk Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin as chief customer experience program officer. Afizulazha was formerly chief digital services officer while Noor Kamarul was formerly chief carrier collaboration. Jefri Ahmad Tambi has been appointed as chief corporate communications and government liaison officer. He was previously chief business solutions officer.

Celcom Axiata announced earnings results for the first quarter of 2014. For the quarter, the company posted revenues of MYR 1.905 billion, down 3.8% compared to the same quarter in 2013. The operator's quarterly EBITDA reached MYR 815 million, decrease of 4.3% compared to MYR 852 million in the same period the previous year. Capex amounted to MYR 140 million, down from MYR 176 million in first quarter of 2013.

Celcom Axiata Berhad reported earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2013. For the quarter, the company reported PATAMI (profits after tax, amortisation and minority interests) increased by 17.2% to MYR 665.8 million from MYR 567.8 million in the previous quarter.
For the year, the company reported record-breaking year on year PATAMI growth of 7% to MYR 2.4 billion, the high in the industry due to effective cost management efforts under Celcom's Smart Spend initiatives. Total revenue was MYR 8.0 billion, an increase of 3.7% from MYR 7.7 billion achieved in 2012. EBITDA grew 3% to MYR 3.6 billion from MYR 3.4 billion a year ago.
