U.S. Travel Association Names Chris Kennedy as Director of Strategic Communications

The U.S. Travel Association announced that Chris Kennedy is the association's new director of strategic communications. In his role, Kennedy will work to strengthen U.S. Travel's press visibility, helping to call attention to the travel industry's pivotal role as an engine in the domestic economy. Kennedy joins U.S. Travel from the Cato Institute, where he was the director of media relations since June 2008. During his five-year tenure with Cato, Kennedy helped position the organization and its experts with frequent appearances in news outlets nationwide. Prior to Cato, Kennedy served in leadership roles in the communications offices at The Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America and the Heritage Foundation. Kennedy's background also includes multiple stints on Capitol Hill.
U.S. Travel Association Appoints Jim Abrahamson as New National Chair

U.S. Travel Association announced the appointment of Jim Abrahamson, CEO of Interstate Hotels and Resorts, as its new national chair. Abrahamson, who previously served as first vice chair, succeeds Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority President and CEO Rossi Ralenkotter in this role. He will serve as national chair through December 2014. In this capacity with U.S. Travel, Abrahamson will work to further strengthen the association's role as the premier voice and advocate for travel issues in Washington, D.C. and help to achieve its mission to grow travel to and within the United States.
U.S. Travel Association Appoints Courtney Temple as New Director of Government Relations

U.S. Travel Association announced that Courtney Temple is the association's new director of government relations, where she will strengthen the team's efforts to advance policies that increase travel to and within the United States. The newest addition to U.S. Travel's expanding government relations office, Temple joins the association after serving as U.S. Rep. Joe Heck's (R-NV) legislative director for more than two years.
