Gas Malaysia Berhad announced the appointment of Dato' Syed Faisal Albar bin Syed A.R Albar as chief executive officer, with effect from January 2, 2014. He joined The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad in May 2000 as Chief Financial Officer. Following the appointment of Dato' Syed Faisal Albar, Encik Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, has been redesignated as the Chief Operating Officer - Technical and Encik Shahrir Shariff as the Chief Operating Officer - Commercial with effect from 1 January 2014. Gas Malaysia Berhad announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2013. For the quarter, the company's revenue was MYR 583.7 million compared with MYR 542.45 million a year ago. Profit before zakat and taxation was MYR 59.13 million compared with MYR 54.34 million a year ago. This was in line with the higher volume of gas sold. Net profit for the period was MYR 46.2 million compared with MYR 41.98 million a year ago. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent was MYR 46.2 million or 3.60 sen per basic and diluted share compared with MYR 41.98 million or 3.27 sen per basic and diluted share a year ago.
