Pivot3 Unveils Virtual Security Console

Pivot3 announced the introduction of the Pivot3 Virtual Security Console, designed to allow users to deliver secure SOC capabilities at any time, in any location. The Pivot3 Virtual Security Console (VSC) allows users to flexibly deliver secure, centralized video management capabilities at any time and any place without deploying additional expensive, graphics-enabled PCs. This unique approach permits VMS administration to be managed either on-site or remotely, and brings significant cost savings by allowing the use of existing PCs or thin clients for security monitoring purposes. The infrastructure enhances mobility by offering access to VMS permissions through any Web-enabled device, including mobile phones and tablets. The solution is completely scalable and designed to meet the demanding needs of markets such as corrections, casinos, retail and manufacturing or any environment in which secure viewing is a priority. VSC appliances are designed to easily integrate with an existing vSTAC Watch array but can also be deployed outside vSTAC Watch arrays or alongside competitive solutions. The appliances are optimized to deliver an enhanced viewing experience through hardware graphics acceleration using Teradici APEX card for CPU offload and NVDIA GRID K1 card for GPU offload. The Teradici APEX reduces CPU overhead by offloading the most active 100 virtual displays to ensure its capabilities are used where most needed. NVIDIA GRID technology delivers the ability to offload graphics processing from the CPU to the GPU in virtualized environments, allowing users to achieve graphics-rich experiences. The release of the VSC appliance follows Pivot3's recent upgrade of its vSTAC OS, which fuses shared storage, networking and virtual servers. Pivot3 vSTAC OS defines, creates and virtualizes all physical storage including SSD and hard drives across an array into a common pool of RAID-protected SAN storage. It features a non-disruptive, fully integrated maintenance capability that enables administrators to dynamically upgrade and manage appliances while maintaining virtual server and storage availability. Virtual machines are allocated to other appliances within the array to ensure continued performance and flexibility, that enhances data and video protection.

Pivot3 Announces Comprehensive Update to Operating System of its vSTAC Suite of Technologies

Pivot3 announced a comprehensive update to the operating system of its vSTAC suite of technologies that further improve performance and enhance operational simplicity. Updates to the vSTAC platform focus on driving new levels of performance while simplifying system management and usability. Online upgrades of vSTAC virtual SAN software are now available to ease the upgrade migration process. A non-disruptive, fully integrated maintenance capability enables administrators to dynamically upgrade and manage appliances while maintaining virtual server and storage availability. Virtual machines are allocated to other appliances within the array to ensure continued performance and flexibility. vSTAC Manager Suite features an updated user interface that delivers a rich graphics experience, while quick and proactive diagnostics extend service and support options to ensure system uptime. The new OS also includes improved VMware integration and is fully compatible with vSphere 5.5. Pivot3 vSTAC OS 6.5 improves responsiveness, supports more efficient data movement and reduces system overhead with a full 64-bit data path. A configurable read and write cache supplements available system cache from 2 GB to 64GB. Read and write acceleration options drive more efficient use of SSD write cache, longer sustained write bursts and less cache swapping, ideal for demanding workloads. A leader in purpose-built storage appliances for the video surveillance and VDI markets, Pivot3 pioneered the innovation of converging shared storage, networking and servers through patented software. This unique approach reduces the cost and complexity of deployments and management. The company's patented Pivot3 vSTAC -- virtual storage and compute -- software runs on top of the hypervisor, which virtualizes the machines. vSTAC OS defines, creates and virtualizes all physical storage -- SSD and hard drives -- across an array into a common pool of RAID-protected SAN storage. The Pivot3 vSTAC family of appliances delivers seamlessly converged, highly available shared storage and virtual server appliances that are designed for storage efficient fault-tolerant workloads. Pivot3 vSTAC appliances run on enterprise-class Dell hardware, which eliminates many of the complexities, constraints and high costs associated with legacy shared storage and converged computing alternatives.

Pivot3 Announces Graphics Acceleration Options for VDI Environments

Pivot3 announced a set of graphics acceleration offerings for its vSTAC R2S desktop virtualization (VDI) solutions suite. The three-tier offerings, designed for the complexities of virtualized environments, deliver a richer graphics experience for desktops running on vSTAC R2S and vSTAC R2S P Cubed appliances. These partner-certified and tested graphics acceleration offerings deliver a streamlined user experience by maximizing graphics operations and display times. By incorporating powerful performance and graphics processing offload cards, users with advanced multimedia, workstation, or graphics-intensive application needs are assured maximum desktop density. NVIDIA GRID technology delivers the ability to offload graphics processing from the central processing unit (CPU) to the graphics processing unit (GPU) in virtualized environments, allowing the data center manager to deliver graphics-rich experiences to users. The Teradici(R) PCoIP(R) Hardware Accelerator (APEX 2800) reduces CPU overhead by offloading the most active 100 virtual displays to ensure its capabilities are used where most needed. In the process, the server consolidation ratio increases up to 2x. Pivot3 currently offers three graphics acceleration options: Tera: Software-based graphics rendering with a Teradici PCoIP Hardware Accelerator to enhance VMware Horizon View performance by ensuring a consistent remote user experience. K1: Hardware GPU virtualization to provide Power User PC-like performance and graphics experience for the maximum number of concurrent users. This option includes a passively cooled NVIDIA GRID K1 with four NVIDIA Kepler architecture-based GPUs and 16GB of memory. Add a Teradici PCoIP Hardware Accelerator to extend the full GPU experience to remote users. K2: Hardware GPU virtualization to deliver maximum performance for users of graphics-intensive applications. This version includes an active-cooled NVIDIA GRID K2 with two higher-end Kepler GPUs and 8GB of memory and an upgraded 1100W power supply. Add a Teradici PCoIP Hardware Accelerator to increase up to 80% frames per seconds delivered to the endpoint for best remote user experience. Pivot3 also offers a variety of professional services options to assist customers with these options including: Onsite: Offers access to senior level Pivot3 engineers to perform onsite advanced installation services of the vSTAC R2S and P Cubed Appliance(s) and graphic acceleration options as laid out in the design at the time of the sale. The duration is determined through pre-sales engagement to ensure that sufficient resources are allocated to the project. Remote: In situations where the size of the deployment is appropriate, Pivot3 offers remote advanced installation services of the vSTAC R2S and P Cubed Appliance(s) and graphic acceleration options as laid out in the design at the time of the solution sale. The duration of installation is determined through pre-sales engagement ensuring that sufficient resources are allocated to the project.
