Nigerian Firm Sues Reserve Bank of Australia, Securency Private Limited and Innovia Films Limited over a Breach of Pact on a Polymer Plant Deal in Nigeria

The Reserve Bank of Australia and Securency Private Limited and Innovia Films Limited have been sued before an Abuja High Court over alleged breach of pact on a polymer plant deal in Nigeria. The suit was brought by Nigerian partners, Benoy Berry and Global Secure Currency Limited. The Nigerian firms said that the foreign companies had dumped the part of a partnership deal to establish a polymer currency printing plant in Nigeria.

RBA Announces Formation of Australian Payments Council; Appoints Christine McLoughlin as Inaugural Independent Non-Executive Chairperson

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has announced the establishment of the Australian Payments Council, a new coordination body for the Australian payments industry. The new coordination body has been established with the support of the Australian Payments Clearing Association (APCA) and RBA following close consultation with payments industry stakeholders. The payments council will foster the ongoing development of the Australian payments system to ensure it continues to meet the changing needs of Australian businesses and consumers with innovative, secure and competitive payment services. Christine McLoughlin has been appointed as the inaugural independent non-executive chairperson of the council. McLoughlin will lead a council of members comprising senior executives drawn from a broad community of payments organizations including financial institutions, card schemes, major retailers and other payment service providers as well as APCA and the RBA. McLoughlin will also serve as independent chairman of the Payments Community.
