The Connecticut Water Company announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014. The company announced net income applicable to common shareholders of $3.0 million in the first quarter of 2014. This was an increase of approximately 14% from the $2.6 million reported in the same period of 2013. Connecticut Water's earnings per basic average share (EPS) in the first quarter of 2014 was $0.27 compared to an EPS of $0.24 during the same period of 2013. Operating revenues were $20.3 million against $19.7 million and total revenues were $22.0 million against $21.5 million reported last year. Total utility operating income was $4.1 million against $3.6 million reported last year. Book value per share was $17.93 against $16.93 reported a year ago.

The Connecticut Water Company Promotes Craig J. Patla to the Position of Vice President of Service Delivery, Effective from April 1, 2014

The board of directors of Connecticut Water Service Inc. approved the promotion of Craig J. Patla to Vice President of Service Delivery for The Connecticut Water company, effective April 1, 2014. In this new role, Mr. Patla will oversee the company's operations, engineering, water quality and service delivery teams. He joined the company as an engineer, overseeing the design and construction of various water infrastructure projects including water treatment plants, pump stations, and water main installations.

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. and The Connecticut Water Company Announce Management Change

On March 31st, 2014, Connecticut Water Service Inc. and The Connecticut Water Company (CWC) accepted the retirement of Terrance P. O'Neill, Vice President - Service Delivery. Mr. O'Neill has served as the company's Vice President - Service Delivery since 1993 and as a CWC employee since 1980. Mr. O'Neill has resigned his position as an officer of the company and his related officer and director positions with CWC and the other subsidiaries of the company, all to be effective as of April 1, 2014. Mr. O'Neill will remain an employee of CWC until his retirement on September 30, 2014.
