Danny Zappin, co-founder and former CEO of Maker Studios, has filed a lawsuit to stop Maker Studios from being acquired by Walt Disney Co. In a court filing, Zappin sought a temporary restraining order to delay a shareholder vote on the deal scheduled for next week, claiming that the merger deal is 'defective' and omits material facts necessary for shareholders to vote. The suit also alleges that Maker Studios' management 'issued stock to one another, accelerated vesting of other stock, and entered into a series of agreements with one another using Maker Studio Inc.'s assets so they could wrest control of Maker's board for Maker's Common Stock shareholders in order to create a liquidity event for themselves'.

Will Keenan Exits Maker Studios as Vice President

Maker Studios VP Will Keenan has left the company to pursue new opportunities in the online video space. Keenan has been at Maker for two years, helping to shepherd its growth from a few hundred channels to more than 70,000. Keenan, whose last day was August 23, 2013 departed just a few months after being promoted to V.P. of Vertical Development Network Programming. He will continue to consult for Maker.
