Accellion, Inc. Key Developments

AVL Implements Accellion's Secure Mobile Content Sharing Solution

Accellion, Inc. announced AVL has implemented Accellion's secure mobile content sharing solution. AVL employees now have secure mobile access to files of any size, which can be shared securely with people inside and outside the organization, via their mobile device of choice. Part of AVL's design and testing processes is to use engine simulators, which output models and video files as large as 60-70GB in size. This contributes to the total data being stored in AVL doubling every two to three years. Sharing these large video files and collaborating with huge volumes of content was becoming an increasing problem for the AVL organization. AVL had been using primarily SFTP for transferring large files and feared project teams could compromise the companies' high security standard by turning to free of charge public cloud based file-sharing services like Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft's OneDrive to share files with extremely sensitive and confidential content. As one AVL subsidiary started to use Box, AVL intensified its search for a secure enterprise on-premise private-cloud alternative that would reduce the security and compliance risks of data leakage. With Accellion's secure mobile containerization, employees have rapidly begun using the mobile application to collaborate with internal and external partners, improving their productivity with the ability to work wherever. Only a few weeks after AVL rolled out Accellion to all its employees, it had become integral to their daily activities. The company also integrated Accellion with all of its existing Microsoft solutions including SharePoint and Outlook, so that there was no direct impact to its employees established workflows. AVL will be rolling out Accellion to more than 6,650 internal users and 3,000 external collaborators. The solution will also be used as a service for an additional 5,000 clients and business partners to distribute software updates and documentation within secure download-only shared folders.

Accellion, Inc. Announces New Digital Rights Management Features to Enhance Security of Document Sharing

Accellion, Inc. announced new user-friendly, integrated digital rights management (DRM) features for its kiteworks solution, including the ability to control the viewing, copying and altering of shared documents. Corporations and government agencies are increasingly concerned about enterprise data leakage and the new kiteworks features provide additional security control over the sharing of sensitive and confidential information in an easy to use mobile-first design. The new features include the ability to share a file in a View Only mode with document watermarking and full-content search. Recipients of the file cannot download, forward, or copy and paste any part of the file. In addition, kiteworks now also includes the ability to withdraw files, an extremely useful feature when a sender makes a mistake, either by sending a file to the wrong recipient or sending the wrong file. The new DRM features in kiteworks that add significant security enhancements are: View Only Role: Organizations want to ensure the security of sensitive information by preventing users from downloading or forwarding critical documents. With the view only role, files can be viewed with high fidelity on a mobile device or web browser but not downloaded or forwarded, thus enabling IT to maintain full control and visibility. File security is enhanced by ensuring that recipients only receive an image of the file, with a custom watermark rather than an editable document. Within the online viewer on a mobile or web interface, users can search for and highlight key words or phrases. Users now have the ability to withdraw files in the event they've sent the wrong content, or sent content to the wrong recipient. This capability is available for both mobile and web users, and adds another layer of security to protect document.
