Alameda Health System Appoints Joel Ginsberg as Director of Legislative Affairs and Community Advocacy

Alameda Health System has announced the appointment of Joel Ginsberg as AHS's Director of Legislative Affairs and Community Advocacy. Mr. Ginsberg will act as a liaison to elected officials and government entities, track changes in health care law and regulation, and work to strengthen AHS's engagement with the community. He joins AHS with nearly 20 years of experience in government, law, management consulting, and health policy. Mr. Ginsberg worked at the White House and Office of the Vice President under President Clinton, where he held political appointments at the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the US Information Agency. He worked as a legislative assistant to Congresswoman Lynn Schenk and as a Fellow on the Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources, where he helped win passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Ryan White CARE Act. He also practiced law at the firm now known as Katten Muchin Rosenman. He served as a management consultant at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and CompassPoint Nonprofit Services, and as the Executive Director of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association.
Alameda Health System Appoints William T. Peruzzi as Chief Medical Officer Effective July 16, 2013

Alameda Health System announced that it has appointed William T. Peruzzi, MD, SM, FCCM as Chief Medical Officer overseeing the delivery of high quality care to AHS patients. He begins his new position on July 16, 2013. Dr. Peruzzi, who has more than 25 years of clinical and healthcare administrative experience, will be based at its Highland Hospital in Oakland. He will be responsible for quality and patient safety, the coordination of clinical care and will serve as liaison between physicians and medical staff among many other responsibilities. He comes to AHS from the University of Miami Hospital in Miami, Florida where he was Vice Chief Medical Officer and Executive Medical Director of Critical Care Services.
Alameda County Medical Center Announces Board Changes

Kirk E. Miller was named as President of the Alameda County Medical Center Board of Trustees during the Board's annual meeting held on January 22, 2013. He is currently a Judge in the California Office of Administrative Hearings. Miller replaces Daniel Boggan, Jr. who completed a three-year term as board president and remains a Board Trustee.
