Alameda Health System Names David Cox as Chief Financial Officer

Alameda Health System announced that David Cox has been named Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Cox will oversee all of the financial functions throughout the company including the annual operating and capital budgetary planning process, payroll, project financing, financial planning and external relations. He will also play a key role as principal advisor on new business opportunities. Mr. Cox most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of Marin General Hospital and Marin Healthcare District, where he transitioned the hospital out of the Sutter system and brought Sonoma Valley and Palm Drive Hospitals into the system as affiliates. In that role, he also led a $10 million operational improvement program with MedAssets. Previously, Mr. Cox served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of St. Mary's Health System in Waterbury, Conn., where he developed the region's most successful breast health program. Mr. Cox additionally acted as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vermont, where he achieved solid profitability within 18 months at a previously struggling academic medical center. Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at Sutter Health in Sacramento, CA and played a key role in the development of the system. Mr. Cox served as a Captain in the United States Air Force.

Alameda Health System Names Tyler J. Bennett Vice President of Ambulatory Care Services

Alameda Health System announced that Tyler J. Bennett has been named Vice President of Ambulatory Care Services. Mr. Bennett will oversee all of the company's hospital and community-based clinics, including planning development, funding and strategic initiatives. Most recently, Mr. Bennett was the Director, Delivery System Strategy at Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. and Hospitals for the Northern California Region.

Alameda Health System Announces Executive Changes

Alameda Health System announced that James Lugannani has been appointed to the AHS Board of Trustees for a three-year term. Mr. Lugannani is an account vice president at UBS Financial Services, where he is a portfolio manager for special needs families. Mr. Lugannani's candidacy for this appointment was put forward by Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty and was approved by the full AHS Board. Previously, Mr. Lugannani was corporate vice president and chief planning officer at Kaiser Permanente Health Plans and Hospitals, and served as chief financial officer of DirecTV Japan and president of Hughes Electronics Japan. He is currently on the board of directors for the National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI), representing south Alameda County, and is an active leader with the Mental Health Association of San Francisco and The ARC of San Francisco. Retiring Members of AHS Board of Trustees: The Board of Trustees extends its thanks and recognition to retiring Board members Daniel Boggan, Jr., MSW, Stanley M. Schiffman, MPH, MSW, and J.
