Lloyds Reportedly Mulls To Sell Clerical Medical

Scottish Widows Group Limited has put its Clerical Medical International Holdings B.V. for sale in the latest sign that deal making in the sector is heating up. Several parties have expressed an interest for Clerical Medical, which manages about £5 billion of policyholders’ funds, according to people with knowledge of the process. Scottish Widows parent Lloyds Banking Group plc (LSE:LLOY) has appointed investment bankers at Fenchurch Advisory Partners to handle the sale of the offshore investment division, known as Clerical Medical International. Lloyds and Scottish Widows declined to comment.

Scottish Widows Cuts 130 Jobs in Restructure

Scottish Widows has announced it will cut 130 jobs in a restructure. The company had changed its structure to meets demand from advisers and employers for greater specialized support in a rapidly changing market place. The job reductions were part of the bank's strategic plan to cut around 9,000 roles over the next three years.

Scottish Widows Group Appoints Nick Prettejohn as New Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman

Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Nick Prettejohn as new independent non-executive director and chairman of Scottish Widows Group, with effect from June 23, 2014. Prettejohn will also serve as a member of the firm's audit and risk committees. Most recently, Prettejohn served as non-executive director of the Prudential Regulation Authority. Previously, he served as chairman of Brit Insurance and from 2010 to 2013 a non-executive director of Legal and General.
