Chinese telecoms equipment manufacturer Huawei has signed a cooperation agreement with the government of Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state. Under the agreement, Huawei will install an innovation centre in tech park Tecnopuc. The tech park is located on the campus of PontifÃcia Universidade CatÃ³lica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS), in state capital Porto Alegre.

Huawei signed agreement with the Brazilian government to set up global research and development (R&D) centre in Brazil. The agreement form part of a series of cooperation deals signed during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Brazil. The agreement with Huawei foresees investments of BRL 200 million in the next three years in a Brazilian R&D centre that will focus on cloud, big data, cyber security and mobile applications.
