Al-Futtaim Private Company LLC Enters into Joint Venture with Kayannat Real Estate Company to Develop Shopping Mall

Al-Futtaim group has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kayannat Real Estate Company to create Saudi Arabia’s shopping mall, Al Diriyah Festival City, in a landmark agreement designed to redefine the capital city’ retail landscape. Under the agreement, Al-Futtaim will manage all matters related to the Al Diriyah Festival City project providing investment and development management services to construct, develop, lease and operate the mall.

Al-Futtaim Group to Launch New Honda City Model in July 2014 in Egypt

Al-Futtaim Group Egypt will release the new design of the Honda City model in July at a starting price of EGP 165,000. Al-Futtaim will release the car during the second half of 2014, and will begin supplying the model to Honda’s authorised distributers directly upon its release into the market. The new Honda City will be available in three grades. The first grade is the Basic, with a starting price of EGP 165,000-170,000. The second is the Half Full grade, with a starting price of EGP 175,000; the High Line grade will be available for EGP 180,000-185,000. The Honda City will be equipped with a 1.5 litre-capacity engine and 118 HP, similarly to its predecessor. The car will also come equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission and accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 11 seconds. The features available in the Honda City include a traction control system, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, front and side airbags to protect the driver and other passengers, anti-skid ABS brakes, EBD to distribute the brake force electronically, front fog lights and other lights with LED technology and a multi-function steering wheel.

Al-Futtaim Signs Joint Venture Agreement with Marjane Holding

Al-Futtaim group has signed a joint venture agreement with a tripartite consortium with Moroccan and Portuguese entities to drive the development of one of the region's biggest superregional retail and leisure destinations. Al-Futtaim and Marjane Holding, Morocco's leading developer of retail destinations and modern retail will jointly lead Zenata Commercial Project S.A. joint venture which also includes international shopping centre specialist Sonae Sierra, owner of 49 shopping centres and responsible for the management of 85 malls and Société d'Aménagement Zenata, a subsidiary of CDG group in charge of the design and land development of Zenata New City. Designed to span a total gross leasable area (GLA) of 120,000 square metres, the mall will spring out at the heart of the First Development Zone of Zenata Eco-city, totaling 800 hectare of land strategically located on the eastern border of Casablanca, on the fringes of the Casa-Rabat highway, the country's busiest road artery. The mall is one of four high value-added activities to be developed within Zenata Eco-City. The mall will be anchored by market-entrant IKEA as the globally renowned Swedish furniture retailer will open for business in 2015. By 2017, the two-level mall will comprise the 26,000 square-metre IKEA store, a 8,350 square-metre Marjane hypermarket, a 10,000 square-metre leisure and fun zone and a 3,400 square-metre cinema complex as well as a comprehensive portfolio of stores featuring apparel, cosmetics, electronics, household appliances and sports brands.
