Pension Protection Fund Appoints Alan Jenkins and Tom Joy to the Board as Non-Executive Directors

Pension Protection Fund announced that Alan Jenkins and Tom Joy are to join the board as non-executive directors. Jenkins helped establish Eversheds, where he was chairman between 2004 and 2010. He also holds a number of non-executive appointments, including the Financial Ombudsman Service, Crown Prosecution Service and UK Trade & Investment, and he is chairman of the board of trustees at Lattitude Global Volunteering and Mencap Trust Company. Joy was also CIO at RMB Asset Management and is currently director of investments at the Church Commissioners for England.

PPF May Acquire Coalfield Resources

Pension Protection Fund may acquire Coalfield Resources plc (LSE:CRES). Pension Protection Fund is tipped to buy the workable mines of Coalfield Resources from administrators in return for taking on its £543 million pensions liability. It is being thought the deal between Coalfield, PPF and administrator PricewaterhouseCoopers could emerge in just over a week. Coalfield Resources declined to comment to The Daily Express. Coalfield Resources's sheet fell 13% to 3 pence.
