China Nonferrous Metal Mining Reportedly Seeks To List Copper Assets

China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co Ltd. is planning to raise about $1 billion by floating its copper assets in Zambia via an initial public offering in Hong Kong, said a person familiar with the matter. The person said the company is looking to list the Chambishi copper mine, the Luanshya copper mine and two smelting plants. Hong Kong Stock Exchange has approved the IPO application submitted by China Nonferrous Metal Mining. No further details, including timetable of the IPO, have yet been disclosed. China International Capital Corp, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co and UBS AG have been hired to manage the IPO.

China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co Ltd. to Invest Some $2 Billion in Zambia

China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co Ltd. announced that he company is about to invest some $2 billion in Zambia in 2011-2015, equivalent to the total amount the company has invested in the country over the past 12 years. In addition to expanding production and operations, part of the investment will be used for the construction of infrastructure facilities and public welfare undertakings, including building a community with 3,000 apartments, in order to improve the living conditions of the local workers. The Sino-Zambia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone invested in by CNMC with a planned area of 17.28 square km was developing quite well, noted Tao. Some 14 companies with a total investment of $1 billion had been attracted so far.
