Telefónica Colombia reported unaudited earnings and operating results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2013. For the nine months, revenues were EUR 1,273 million against EUR 1,324 million last year. OIBDA was EUR 427 million against EUR 443 million last year. CapEx was EUR 200 million against EUR 163 million last year. OpCF (OIBDA-CapEx) was EUR 227 million against EUR 280 million last year. CapEx was up 30.2% year-on-year, with investment focused on the on-going improvement of the fixed broadband service, mobile data and network quality.
For the quarter, revenues were EUR 422 million against EUR 445 million last year. OIBDA was EUR 140 million against EUR 161 million last year. CapEx was EUR 92 million against EUR 72 million last year. OpCF (OIBDA-CapEx) was EUR 48 million against EUR 88 million last year. Revenue growth accelerated sharply year-on-year in the third quarter (6.5%), boosted by the on-going improvement of both the mobile and the fixed businesses, despite the negative impact of the reduction in mobile termination rates (increase of 3.5% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2013 and increase of 8.2% in the third quarter, excluding this effect).
For the nine months, traffic was 14,818 million minutes against 13,093 million minutes last year. ARPU was EUR 6.9 against EUR 6.9 last year.
For the quarter, traffic was 5,432 million minutes against 4,447 million minutes last year. ARPU was EUR 6.9 against EUR 6.9 last year. Traffic growth accelerated to 22% year-on-year in the third quarter despite the year-on-year decline in accesses and reflected the new regulatory environment, with a widespread reduction in prices, and the marked improvement in the quality of the customer base.
Telefonica Will Not Sell Telefonica Telecom

Telefónica, S.A. (CATS:TEF) said that it will not sell Telefonica Telecom SA and was beginning talks with the shareholder Colombian government, to find ways to capitalize the business and increase liquidity. "In Colombia I want to stress that we are not sellers," Chief Financial Officer of Telefónica, S.A., Angel Vila said.
