L-3 WESCAM Launches New Performance Features for MX -Series Electro-Optical/Infrared Surveillance and Targeting Systems
May 28 14
L-3 WESCAM announced significant feature enhancements to the electro-optical and infrared surveillance and targeting products within its MX -Series portfolio. Feature enhancements per product are MX-15 Surveillance System, Color low-light, wide-angle zoom EO imager - Complementing the system's existing dual-channel spotter, this technology enhances its imaging capability under a wide range of illumination conditions, including dusk and poor weather conditions. Zoom Spotter - Zoom optics allow the operator to achieve the desired balance of magnification and field of view between moderately wide and ultra-narrow. Shortwave IR imager - Useful for day and night imaging missions, the high-resolution SWIR imager offers outstanding range performance at the limits of atmospheric visibility. In addition, it offers improved imaging performance under suboptimal atmospheric conditions, such as atmospheric haze and fog. MX-20D & 25D Targeting Systems, Laser Spot Tracker - Compatible with standard U.S. and NATO designator codes, the LST automatically detects a designator spot of a given code in its field of view and automatically slews the system's line of sight to the laser energy. MX-25 Surveillance & MX-25D Targeting Systems Dual-channel daylight and EMCCD low-light EO wide-angle zoom - EMCCD low-light imaging capability added to the wide-angle zoom sensor enhances situational awareness under a wide range of illumination conditions. To improve mission capability and promote operational ease-of-use, all turrets within the MX-Series can also be equipped with L-3 WESCAM's newly launched Kinetic technologies: Kinetic Speed - A powerful feature that enables operators to gain an accurate indication of the speed at which ground vehicles are travelling. This is useful for threat assessment and/or regulatory law enforcement. Kinetic Map - An advanced operator control system that overlays the location of the sensor, direction of line of sight and a selected sensor's field of view onto a geographical moving map.
The system displays multiple channels of sensor video, along with the imagery's associated metadata. Kinetic Moving Target Indicator - Detects multiple moving targets in an image stream, significantly reducing operator burden and increasing the probability of detecting suspicious activity.
Kinetic Map and MTI - Combines the capabilities of the Kinetic Map and Kinetic MTI into a powerful, integrated set of operator capabilities.
All system features are available now for delivery.
L-3 WESCAM Launches its Advanced Operator Training Course for Mx™-Series of EO/IR imaging and targeting Turrets
Sep 23 13
L-3 WESCAM announced the launch of its Advanced Operator Training course for the MXTM-Series of EO/IR imaging and targeting turrets. Designed for experienced system operators, the new course's advanced curriculum builds on knowledge acquired in the prerequisite course - WESCAM Operations and Organizational Maintenance. L-3 WESCAM's Advanced Operator Training course comprises a set of common modules that are completely customized to match the operator's turret configuration and mission requirements. Course modules include pre-mission planning, execution and tactics, mission analysis, sensor selection and optimization, steering mode selections, in-flight training, MX-Sim training missions and post-mission review. Depending on module customization and the required in-flight training schedule, the course can run between three to five days. Course dates and times are based on customer availability, as the final curriculum is designed to match the exact requirements of each customer group. The Advanced Operator Training course is the newest component of L-3 WESCAM's complete training solution. This comprehensive solution is a portfolio of training offerings designed for execution over a period of several years to keep operators, maintainers and their L-3 WESCAM systems operating at maximum potential. The training portfolio includes product familiarization, operation and organizational maintenance, and intermediate-level maintenance courses.
L-3 WESCAM Launches Two New Products at the 2013 Paris Air Show
Jun 17 13
L-3 WESCAM announced the launch of two new products that directly reduce the costs associated with development testing and the sustainment of fielded electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) surveillance and targeting systems. The new MXTM-Emulator and MXTM-RAid products support L-3 WESCAM's portfolio of MXTM-Series systems for military, homeland security and airborne law enforcement use. The launch of the MX-Emulator enables system integrators and OEMs to dramatically reduce the System Integration Lab (SIL) development costs associated with critical integration activities. Engineered to replicate the exact functionality of airborne and ground-based MX systems, the MX-Emulator provides connectivity to all standard control systems, including hand- controllers, operator control units, joysticks and mission grips. L-3's concurrent launch of the MX-RAid, Internet version, provides a remote diagnostic capability for the evaluation of fielded MX-Series EO/IR systems. This exclusive capability gives L-3 WESCAM's customers immediate access to an in-house factory technician who can diagnose in-service system issues from afar. Originally conducted over a satellite connection, this new Internet-based connection option provides a data link between an L-3 WESCAM technician and the fielded MX-Series system, enabling live video, voice or text chat capability, and the streaming of live system video. The MX-RAid technology returns some systems to operational status from the field and reduces the number of systems being sent to service facilities with ‘No Fault Found’ (NFF) systems issues.
