BridgeSTOR Announces Coronado NAS Gateway Preview
Nov 20 13
BridgeSTOR, LLC announced a preview of its Coronado(TM) NAS Gateway. The company's solution for making cloud storage look and feel like Network Attached Storage (NAS). Delivered as a Virtual Machine (VM), Coronado easily integrates with the user existing VMware or Hyper-V environment and provides seamless access to cloud storage such as Amazon S3 through an industry standard CIFS or NFS interface. Utilizing BridgeSTOR's Cloud Storage File System (CSFS), Coronado empowers users to take advantage of secure cloud storage while achieving capacity savings through deduplication and compression. Coronado ensures cloud security by adding Authentication and Encryption at the client location making sure all data is secure during transmission and while at rest in the cloud. Authentication is done with Microsoft Active Directory, allowing administrators to secure data access by users and groups in the same way as they do for locally stored data. The other all-important ingredient, Encryption, is solved by BridgeSTOR's ProtectedCloud(TM) Security which combines AES-256 bit encryption plus XTS block-based encryption, producing two unique keys for industrial strength encryption. In addition to strong security, Coronado offers enterprise customers the option of a Global File System, allowing multiple locations to instantly share cloud storage from anywhere on the planet.
Bridgestor Announces CRUNCH Deduplication for Microsoft Data Protection Manager
Feb 12 13
BridgeSTOR, LLC, announced release of the CRUNCH Virtual Deduplication Appliance, BridgeSTOR's 2nd generation deduplication and compression technology for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM 2010/2012). Delivered as a VHD, CRUNCH for DPM enables users of Microsoft's server and workstation data protection product to store deduplicated data onsite for fast data recovery or offsite for disaster recovery, archive and long term data retention. By creating a new long-term deduplicated disk storage tier, CRUNCH reduces the disk requirements in short-term DPM storage pools, making BridgeSTOR's capacity optimization the ideal response to DPM's voracious storage appetite. CRUNCH deduplication helps DPM storage managers extend the life of their in-place disk hardware with optional data compression further reducing capacity requirements. Adding CRUNCH to DPM data protection architectures extends the number of available long-term recovery points and seamlessly integrates into current protection strategy while remaining under the control of DPM. CRUNCH for DPM is offered through a BridgeSTOR Deduplication as a Service (DaaS) subscription. Using DaaS, a user signs up for a period of time, receives value over that period and then, at the end of the subscription period determines whether or not to renew. If the customer decides not to renew they will always be able to recover data. DaaS customers pay only for the services provided.
BridgeSTOR, LLC Announces Availability of the Data Deduplication File System(TM) to OEMs
Sep 18 12
BridgeSTOR, LLC announced it has released its Data Deduplication File System (DDFS) to OEMs building Linux-based storage products. DDFS supplies deduplication services as a Linux file system. Unlike existing Linux file systems, DDFS adds compression, encryption and embedded data movement for Cloud-based environments. DDFS deduplicates all unstructured (application) data and includes specialized algorithms that recognize the unique characteristics of virtual machine images (VHD, VMDK and others). When a virtual machine image is encountered, DDFS automatically invokes this optimization to maximize the deduplication of the virtual machine image. DDFS will also natively mount virtual machine images allowing the immediate recovery of data. DDFS enables OEM customers to offer products that address the perplexing requirement of storing VMware, Hyper-V and other virtual machine image types on magnetic tape, on disk or in the Cloud -- in a deduplicated, compressed and encrypted (for tape, compression and encryption are performed by the tape drive) format to minimize the cost and complexity of storing critical data offsite. Using DDFS, deduplicated data can be stored locally, on a network, on tape or in the Cloud. DDFS deduplication can reduce storage utilization significantly. Since no two installations have identical data storage characteristics, BridgeSTOR recommends that prospective OEM customers contact BridgeSTOR to arrange for an evaluation of DDFS using data that is representative of their customers' workloads to demonstrate the effectiveness of the technology.
