BridgeSTOR, LLC Announces the GoldenGate Cloud Tape Library
Jun 3 14
BridgeSTOR, LLC announced the GoldenGate Cloud Tape Library (CTL), a cost-effective solution for storing backup and archive data on public and/or private cloud storage through a familiar VTL interface. GoldenGate is the latest addition to BridgeSTOR's family of gateway products that enables global access to cloud storage at both file and block levels. The GoldenGate CTL provides an elegant integration into existing backup infrastructures using a virtual media changer, virtual tape cartridges created in the cloud and virtual tape drives. The Golden Gate CTL interoperates with existing client backup software as well as with Microsoft's Data Protection Manager (DPM). The GoldenGate CTL enables the business enterprise to retain the durability, control and security inherent in tape media while leveraging the cost, availability and accessibility advantages of cloud storage. Unlike competing cloud tape products, the GoldenGate CTL enables backup and archive data to be immediately recovered and restored at the individual file level, eliminating the requirement to download an entire virtual tape cartridge from cloud storage. In addition, data can be recovered at the speed of the network without requiring cloud-provider-induced access delays. Other key features and capabilities of the GoldenGate CTL include: 1) The ability to use local disk storage to enable backups to be performed at local network speeds and/or to enable VTL capabilities without using the cloud; 2) In-line data compression that can double the capacity of cloud and/or local storage (assuming the industry-standard 2:1 data compression ratio); 3) Military-strength data encryption used when in-flight and at-rest whenever sending data to cloud storage. The GoldenGate CTL is delivered as a physical appliance or as a Hyper-V or VMware virtual appliance. Pricing for a GoldenGate virtual appliance starts at $9,995 MSRP with unlimited capacity, unlimited users and unlimited clients. A physical GoldenGate CTL appliance with 48TB of storage capacity is available at $39,995 MSRP.
BridgeSTOR Announces the Elimination of Backup Software
Apr 29 14
BridgeSTOR, LLC announced a comprehensive strategy that enables data protection managers to eliminate the need for backup software when protecting unstructured data. The key ingredient is the BridgeSTOR Cloud File Versioning feature (standard in BridgeSTOR Coronado products) which tracks deleted or modified files and creates versions of these files in the equivalent of a Recycle Bin -- similar to the Microsoft Windows(R) Recycle Bin or Apple(R) Time Machine. The Coronado Cloud Gateway enables administrators to create a standard SMB/CIFS or NFS storage share and map a drive letter (F:\ drive, for example) with direct connectivity to cloud storage. Once installed, administrators may use the Coronado Gateway as a standard Network Attached Storage (NAS) server in which unstructured data (files) are automatically stored on durable storage -- eliminating time and performance robbing RAID rebuilds. BridgeSTOR's Coronado File Versioning capability enables immediate fallback to an earlier copy of data in the event of the loss or corruption of the original data copy. The Coronado family of products consists of the Coronado Cloud Storage Gateway appliance, the Coronado Cloud Storage Gateway VM and the Coronado Synchronization Server. The Coronado product family enables data protection professionals to utilize Amazon S3 cloud storage and private cloud storage to store and protect critical, unstructured data without regard to the data's physical location. Coronado Cloud Storage Gateway Appliances greatly enhance the functionality and value of cloud storage through a unique set of features including: Data deduplication and compression to greatly reduce the amount of physical content stored; SMB II and NFS protocol support for effortless application integration with existing systems; Active Directory integration for user and group authentication; a local cache that provides local access performance for cloud-resident data plus a comprehensive list of additional features.
BridgeSTOR, LLC Announces Immediate Availability of Coronado Family of Cloud Storage Access Gateway Products
Mar 4 14
BridgeSTOR, LLC announced the immediate availability of the Coronado family of Cloud Storage Access Gateway products offered as a service for a low and fixed monthly charge. The Coronado Cloud Storage Gateway products transform Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3(R)) public cloud storage into easily accessible, secure, ultra-high-availability data center storage for both workgroup and enterprise-level storage consumers. The workgroup is served by the Coronado NAS Gateway while the addition of the Coronado Synchronization Server enables business enterprises, government entities and others to easily and securely access and share cloud-resident data from multiple locations world-wide without regard to the data's physical location. The Coronado NAS Gateway includes BridgeSTOR's Protected Cloud Security which combines AES-256 bit encryption and advanced data reduction for secure accelerated wire transmission and safety while the data is at rest inside the cloud provider. BridgeSTOR's Coronado data reduction multiplies the capacity of all cloud storage regardless of composition. With 5X data deduplication, a figure claimed by products such as EMC's DataDomain for archive applications, 1TB of Amazon S3 storage is transformed into 5TB of cloud storage - while the cloud storage user pays for only 1TB of cloud storage. Comprehensive Active Directory integration enables the Coronado product family to provide authentication required by both workgroup and enterprise users in order to safeguard their data. The Coronado Synchronization Server features the Coronado Global File System which aggregates a view of all files stored in the cloud while enabling the seamless sharing of common data and Global Cloud Deduplication which adds the high level of data reduction across all data and files stored in an enterprise's cloud storage environment. In addition, BridgeSTOR optimizes the transfer of data across the network both to and from the storage cloud. A single Coronado Synchronization Server operates in conjunction with multiple Coronado Cloud Storage Gateways to provide comprehensive, consistent and secure access to cloud-resident data to all cloud storage users and is ideal for distributed, world-wide enterprises deploying applications or providing collaboration services.
