The company serves small and medium companies, and large companies and public sector. The company was formerly known as Rom-Post-Telecom and changed its name to Romtelecom S.A. in July, 1991. The company was founded in 1989 and is based in Bucharest, Romania. As of March 31, 2003, Romtelecom S.A. operates as a subsidiary of OTE International Investments Ltd.

Government May Sell Its 46% Stake In Romtelecom

Romania's government might decide to sell under direct negotiations, as opposed to public offering procedures on domestic and/or foreign stock exchanges, its 46% stake in Romtelecom S.A., telecom minister Razvan Cotovelea was quoted as saying by Bursa daily. A decision in this regard would be taken by the end of June 2014 by the consultancy team, Cotovelea said. Romania's telecom ministry had picked up in December 2013 a consortium of firms to provide consultancy services on the sale of the 46% stake still held by the government in Romtelecom.

Romtelecom S.A. Announces Earnings Results for the Fourth Quarter of 2013

Romtelecom announced earnings results for the fourth quarter of 2013. For the quarter, the company's revenues increased 8.8% year-on-year to EUR 162.7 million. EBITDA rose 13.3% to EUR 46.0 million. Broadband and television revenues were up 7.0% and 7.4% in the quarter, in contrast to the continuing declining trend in voice revenues, down 15.5% in the quarter.

Romtelecom Receives Approval to Enter Cable Market in the City of Brasov

Romtelecom received the approval of the country's national audio-visual council (CNA) to launch its cable network in the city of Brasov. The network will operate under the name of 'Dolce Cablu'. At present, Romtelecom has no customers for its cable network in Brasov as its programmes are being distributed only as part of a trial for the company's employees. CNA's approval covers the distribution of a number of 60 analogue televisions and 82 digital TV programmes.
